How do I set up Respondus 4.0 to connect to Talon?
Respondus 4.0 is a quiz creation and editing program for instructors. Respondus 4.0 is available to all Kirkwood faculty and staff. You can request the software from the Service Desk and they will push it to your computer. Adjuncts will receive instructions on how to install the software themselves.
Once it is installed, you will need to connect Respondus 4.0 to Talon in order to publish a quiz into a Talon course, or to retrieve (pull) questions from a Talon course.
Publish a Respondus 4.0 Quiz to Talon
- With the quiz open in Respondus 4.0, click on the Preview & Publish section.
- Open the Publish Wizard
- Choose the type of publish -- most commonly "Publish to a single course"
- Assuming this is your first time using Respondus 4.0, you will need to choose "Add new server" from the Desire2Learn Server dropdown.
- Since Kirkwood doesn't have pre-configured server settings, you will need to create your own.
- Copy-paste the Talon URL into the server information step 2 box (https://talon.kirkwood.edu)
- Click the Extract button -- this will fill in some more details for you.
- Enter "Talon" as the Description
- Enter your k# as the User name and you normal Talon password for the Password.
- (Optional) Check the Remember checkbox if you are using a private computer and you want Respondus to save your username and password.
- Click OK at the top right of the window
- Select the course you want to publish the quiz to
- Select your publishing options and click Next until it completes the publishing process.
