Why can't students see my quiz (aka Final, Test, Exam)?

There are a few settings to check when students tell you they cannot see a quiz item in Talon: visibility settings, availability date settings, release conditions, and special access settings.

Visibility Settings

Look for an open eye icon next to the item title in course content. If the eye icon has a slash over it, it means the item is hidden.

Availability Date Settings

Technically, quizzes are still visible when outside the availability dates, but students might still claim to not "see" them since they can't click on them. Be sure to verify the year is accurate on the date settings as copied contents will also copy previous dates.

Release Conditions

If a student doesn't meet the release condition set on the quiz, then the quiz will not be visible to them. Be careful to avoid creating impossible conditions like the one in the image below: the student needs to submit the quiz before they can see the quiz.

Special Access Settings

Check the special access settings are not restricting all students. You can change this under the Availability Dates & Conditions section when editing the quiz. Click on Manage Special Access and then choose the first option “Allow selected users special access to this quiz”. This makes it so everyone still has access, plus those with special access have their special access. When the option "Allow only users with special access to see this quiz" is selected, the quiz will be hidden for everyone EXCEPT those with special access.
