How can I use Creator+ to make my course content more engaging and easier to follow?
When course content is presented as long pages of text, even well-written material can be difficult for students to navigate and absorb. Important ideas can get lost, and processes can be hard to follow.
Creator+ tools in Talon offer a simple way to transform your content into more organized, interactive, and student-friendly experiences—without requiring a lot of time or a complete redesign.
Below are three practical ways to get started using Creator+ in your course.
Use a Timeline to Organize Processes and Sequences
Timelines allow you to present information in a clear, step-by-step format. Instead of describing a process in a paragraph, you can break it into stages that students can move through more easily.
Timelines work well for:
- Processes and workflows
- Sequences of events
- Step-by-step instructions
For example, in a science or health course, a timeline can show stages of a process such as digestion. In a history course, timelines are especially useful for presenting events in chronological order and helping students see how events connect over time.
Using a timeline helps students focus on one step at a time and better understand how ideas build on each other.
Use a Stylized Quote to Highlight Key Ideas
Stylized Quotes allow you to draw attention to important concepts, key takeaways, or memorable statements. This helps ensure that essential ideas are not overlooked within longer sections of content.
Stylized quotes work well for:
- Key takeaways
- Important reminders
- Expert insights or perspectives
- Concepts students often misunderstand
For example:
Placing an important idea in a stylized quote makes it stand out visually and reinforces its importance for students.
Use a Carousel to Present One Idea at a Time
Carousels allow you to break content into smaller sections that students can scroll through at their own pace. This is especially helpful when presenting multiple concepts, examples, or scenarios.
Carousels work well for:
- Key concepts or categories
- Case studies or real-world examples
- Visual content such as images or diagrams
- Step-by-step walkthroughs
For example, in a nutrition course, a carousel could present different food groups. In a business course, it could walk students through a case study, including the background, challenge, possible solutions, and decision factors.
Carousels reduce cognitive overload by presenting one idea at a time while still keeping related content together.
How to Add Creator+ Elements in Talon
Navigate to the Content area in Talon and open the page where you would like to add the Flip Cards.
Select Edit HTML or Create New File.
Place your cursor where you want the Flip Cards to appear in the content.
Click the paintbrush/pencil icon.

Click
Insert Element in the Creator+ toolbar.

- Choose the element you want to add (Timeline, Carousel, Stylized Quote, etc.).
- Enter your content and adjust settings as needed.
- If you add pictures, you will need to also enter Alt Text for them, it will prompt you to do so.
- Select Done, then Save or Publish your page.
You don’t need to redesign an entire course to take advantage of these tools. Start with one content page or one topic that could benefit from clearer organization or emphasis.
Small changes—like adding a timeline, carousel, or stylized quote—can transform how students experience your content while only taking a few minutes to implement.
