Why am I receiving an error message (e.g. Invalid Grade Format) when exporting grades to Colleague?
When exporting Midterm and Final grades from Talon to Colleague, they need to be in a letter grade format (A-F). If the system is sending % scores, an Invalid Grade Format error will result. Also, if there is no score, this will also result in an error.
But I already see Letter Grades in the Calculated Grade column
In this case, make sure you are sending the correct overall grade. Talon has two different overall grades that can be set: Calculated or Adjusted. Only one of these can be set visible to students at any time. To choose which is in use, click on Grades > Settings link near the upper right > Click the Calculation Options tab > scroll down to the Final Grade Released section and choose which overall grade column that contains the grades you want to publish to Colleague. Save and close any changes.
How do I set the Calculated Grade to display letter grades?
- Edit the grade item (Grades > click the down arrow menu after the grade item name and choose "Edit").
- Scroll down to the Grading Scheme option and choose a letter grade scheme from the menu. We've preloaded two Kirkwood schemes for you, one that rounds up and one with no rounding. You can also create your own scheme if the Kirkwood schemes do not meet your course letter grade requirements.
- Make sure Grade scheme symbol is selected from the display options.
- Save and Close.

Note, in the Rounding up grading scheme a 92.5 and higher will correspond to an A, while in the No rounding scheme, a 93 and higher will count as an A.
