If you are enrolled in an online course with monitored (proctored) exams, you have the following options:
Honorlock
Honorlock is the College's remote proctoring option. With Honorlock, you can take the exam from home or any other suitable location. Honorlock will monitor your exam session and flag any potential issues detected for your professor to review. To use Honorlock, you must:
- Have a computer with a webcam, microphone, and a stable internet connection.
- Have a suitable testing location.
- Install the Honorlock Chrome extension and use Google Chrome to take your exam.
- Pay $9.50 per exam.
Inside the Kirkwood area
If you live within the seven-county Kirkwood area (Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington counties) and you do not wish to use Honorlock, you have the following options:

Outside the Kirkwood area
If you live outside the seven-county Kirkwood area (Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington counties), you can find a proctor in your local area willing to administer your exam. You will need to provide Kirkwood Test Center with your proctor's name and contact information. Kirkwood Test Center will verify that the proctor complies with the requirements and send exam instructions. Once your proctor is approved, you can make arrangements with them directly to test.
All 15 Iowa community college test centers have an agreement to provide testing services for each other's students free of charge. If you live in Iowa, your best first place to contact would be the community college nearest you:

- Indian Hills Community College testing center
- Iowa Central Community College testing center
- Iowa Lakes Community College testing center

- North Iowa Area Community College testing center
- Northeast Iowa Community College testing center

- Western Iowa Tech Community College testing center
Other college and university test centers, public libraries, or learning centers
If you live outside of Iowa, or are unable to test at an Iowa community college for other reasons, you can contact another college or university testing center, public library, or learning center about proctoring your exam. Keep in mind that most test centers, libraries, and other in-person proctors charge a fee (typically between $15-$30), so Honorlock may be the more economical option.
