Yes, Artificial Intelligence can be used to create question test banks that can be uploaded into Talon.

CREATING THE QUESTION BANK

  1. Log into Talon > Course Admin > Quizzes > New Quiz 
  2. Add Existing > Upload a File > Download Template CSV
  3. Perplexity > attach Download Template CSV (ChatGPT has trouble copying the format of the Talon CSV template)
  4. Perplexity prompt model: Can you create a [number of questions and question type] quiz on [subject/topic] for a [grade level] course in [discipline]? Please use the attached template as your formatting guide and copy its format exactly so that I can upload your output into my Brightspace D2L LMS via a .CSV file. Please provide prompts and responses suitable for [restate class level and subject matter] course. Thanks!
    1. Can you create a 10-question multiple choice quiz on the history of the Inca? Please use the attached template as your formatting guide and copy its format exactly so that I can upload your output into my Brightspace D2L LMS via a .csv file. Please provide prompts and responses suitable for an introductory History course. Thanks!
  5. Copy the AI response > open Notepad (accessible by typing “Notepad” in the laptop “Type here to search window” > Paste the response into the Notepad 
  6. File > Save As > name the file > save under the extension .CSV

FORMATTING THE QUESTION BANK FOR UPLOADING 

  1. Open EXCEL > open/create a Blank workbook > Data (in the main menu ribbon) > From Text/CSV
  2. Open the Notepad file > click Load > edit the contents as needed
  3. If the new EXCEL workbook has multiple sheets, delete the blanks ones (usually a Sheet 1 is automatically added) 
  4. File > Save As > CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited)

UPLOADING THE QUESTION BANK INTO TALON

  1. Log in to Talon > Course Admin > Quizzes
  2. New Quiz > Add Existing > Upload a File > Browse Files
  3. Once the content is loaded > Import All
