Why can't my students see my discussion topic?

Why can't my students see my discussion topic?

When creating a discussion topic, an organizing folder (called a Forum) gets automatically created. If you save the new topic in a hidden state, the folder will also be hidden. Later, if you change the topic to visible, the folder is still hidden -- and this hides all the topics inside the folder from student view.

The Solution

  1. Go to Course Admin > Discussions
  2. Find the folder (Forum) containing the topic (Note, the title text of the folder will be black while topic titles will be blue)
  3. Click the dropdown menu next to the folder (Forum) and choose "Make visible to users"
