What are Teaching Squares?

Teaching Squares

A Teaching Squares Project builds a teaching community of four faculty through classroom observations and shared reflection.  The structure emphasizes learning from other instructors, instead of evaluating or judging.  Each of the four faculty will visit each other’s classrooms to learn how the physical space, the student’s behavior, and the faculty’s teaching all interact.  The final goal is to share a reflection of what was gained from each of the classroom visits.

Teaching Squares include the following steps:

1.            Setup a Kickoff Meeting to introduce each other and schedule observations

2.            Observe at least one class taught by each Square Partner (a total of 3 observations)

3.            Reflect on the class observation experience

4.            Setup a wrap-up meeting to share reflections with Square Partners

5.            Submit your final written reflections to AISD.

Teaching Squares is offered each semester.  Please login to NeoEd through MyHub for more information and registration.
