Proctored exams for other institutions
General guidelines
Kirkwood Test Center proctors exams for students attending other colleges and universities, and individuals pursuing certifications from credentialing bodies, professional associations, and other exam sponsors. Appointments are required for all exams. Please note that third-party testing may be limited or unavailable during Kirkwood's peak academic testing times (midterm and final exam weeks).

Procedures
General procedure
- Inform your instructor, institution, or exam sponsor that Kirkwood Test Center is willing to proctor your exam.
- Provide them our contact information. If a contact name is required, please use the following:
- Cedar Rapids: James Sumner
- Coralville: Vazha Grigalashvili
- Hiawatha: Justin Kavanagh
- Your instructor or exam sponsor will provide us the necessary instructions to administer your exam. Please do not schedule an appointment until you have confirmed we have received your insttructions.
- Once we have received your instructions, you can schedule an appointment using RegisterBlast, our online scheduling tool. If you need assistance, follow the instructions in our scheduling an appointment help article.
Special procedures for Iowa State University (ISU)
Iowa State University students wishing to take exams at Kirkwood Test Center have special procedures to follow. Please read this information carefully and contact us with any questions.
- You are responsible for requesting proctor approval from Iowa State University. Kirkwood Test Center staff are not responsible for coordinating or requesting passwords.
- If your exam is computer-delivered, we recommend bringing your own laptop with ISU's Respondus Lockdown Browser installed.
Fees
Kirkwood Test Center charges a fee of $20 per exam for other institutions and exam sponsors. This fee is collected when you register for your exam through RegisterBlast, our online scheduling tool. The fee is waived for the following Iowa community colleges:
- Des Moines Area Community College
- Eastern Iowa Community Colleges
- Clinton Community College
- Muscatine Community College
- Scott Community College
- Hawkeye Community College
- Indian Hills Community College
- Iowa Central Community College
- Iowa Lakes Community College
- Iowa Valley Community College District
- Ellsworth Community College
- Marshalltown Community College
- Iowa Western Community College
- North Iowa Area Community College
- Northeast Iowa Community College
- Northwest Iowa Community College
- Southeastern Community College
- Southwestern Community College
- Western Iowa Tech Community College
Refunds
If you need to cancel an appointment for which you have paid a fee, please contact the Test Center. We will refund 50% of your fee if you cancel up to the day before your appointment. If you cancel the day of your exam or you miss your appointment, your fee is non-refundable. In most cases, we are happy to reschedule your exam to another day (subject to availability) to avoid forfeiture of your fee.
