How do I create my Panopto account?

Panopto accounts have two main roles: Viewers and Creators. Most of the time, students are viewers and instructors will be creators. 

Establishing a Creator Role as an Instructor

1. Log into any Talon course where you have an instructor role.
   
2. Click on Course Content and click on a module in the Table of Contents (create a module if one does not exist).
   
3. Click on the Existing Activities button in the main window.
   
4. From the dropdown, choose External Learning Tools.
   
   
5. From the new window, select Panopto Video -- this will add the Panopto Video item to the module. 
   
   
6. Click the Panopto Video External Learning Tool link that was added in step 5 to update your account and create a course folder.
   
   

Students as Creators

When an instructor adds the Panopto Video link to a course in Talon and clicks the link (see steps above), this also automatically creates a course folder in Panopto and a sub [assignment] folder. Students enrolled in the course will automatically have limited creator access to this [assignment] folder. 

Establishing a Creator Role as Staff (Non-Talon users)

If you don't use Talon in your role at Kirkwood, you can still become a creator. Email instructionaldesigner@kirkwood.edu for assistance.
